Opaque Passage
9th May 2016
Sunrise
This shot is of an ally way, which leads into the moor, which is
located in town, Sheffield
The meaning is to show how life can lead to different places, as
this is a leading lines shot. The Chinese sign in the photo also shows how
culturally diverse Sheffield is as a city, which was me adding meaning to my
photo. I used the automatic option on the camera for the lighting etc
The genre of the photograph is street photography, as well as surrealism, as the photograph was of course taken in an urban enviroment, which of course connotes its street aspects, and the colours, and the manner of the edit in general, connotes its surreal aspects, which of course links back to my theme/sub-theme connoted, being psychedelia.
To edit the images I duplicated the image and pasted the duplicated layers over the original image, but smaller. I also edited the saturation in order to give it a futuristic look with the colours. It the genre the photograph belongs to is street photography, which connote my theme in many ways.
The lighting that I took the photo in was ambient lighting, therefore it was natural, and the intentions are to make the audience look at things from a different perspective, in general as this shot naturally, is of course, not this vivid set of colours. The aperture I used was f/2.8.

The intentions behind the work of this photo
were me trying to give a standard looking location/set of buildings a unique
and radiant effect, to of course make the overall image match my theme in which
I originally set out.
Overall I really like this edit. I think it
really represents my theme in a creative way, as it really does look out of
this world, and psychedelic, which of course connotes my theme. I also
really like the fact that some of the image looks warped, as this makes it look
like it is melting which again connotes my psychedelic theme.
I also like how the edit depicts the culture of Sheffield, as it is a very diverse city culturally, but this could also be an aspect for division amongst different races, which is of course a problem in modern day society.

Tranquil Landscape
11th May 2016
Sunrise
This is a landscape shot of some buildings in
Sheffield. The meaning of this photo is to show Sheffield from a more
futuristic perspective/point of view as this of course connotes my theme as it
is psychedelic in many aspects, which is of course associated with
vivid colours, which connotes the futuristic concept. The original shot is of a
dull-looking factory looking setting in Sheffield, which I of course enhanced
to give it this psychedelic look. To edit the images I changed the saturation,
as well as making the image slightly brighter, by turning up the brightness.
The genre is street/landscape photography, which connotes my theme in many
aspects.
The aperture setting was f/5.6. The
photographic, composition rule I used was simplicity, as throughout
photography, a lot of the time the simpler images have a bigger impact, than
some of the most complicated images.
Overall I think I did really well with this
edit as when looking at it, its almost as if it has an atmospheric feel to it,
for the example, the colour transition of the sky looks quite psychedelic, and
out of this world in many aspects which again connotes my theme denoted, being
psychedelia, as the sky goes from a sky blue natural colour, to an almost
golden/fire'y colour, which could represent the two sides of the city, which is
of course Sheffield, as there are negative aspects and positive to the city. It
could also represent the pollution from some of the factories.
Ghost Child
11th May 2016
Sunrise
This is a close up shot of what appears to be Graffiti on a door. The meaning of this photo is to raise awareness for vandalism which is an issue in this modern-day society. The image shows aspects of psychedelia as another meaning of this photo is to show how in a psychedelic mind-state, we view things from a different perspective, to what it is in physical reality, as the graffiti of what appears to be a ghostly child, looks distorted in many aspects, as it is almost as if you are looking at two copies of it, at the same time.
This is also a description of double-vision, which is often experienced in a psychedelic frame of mind. To edit this photo I adjusted the saturation in Adobe Photoshop, as doing this, gave my edited image, a vivid set of colours to of course connote my theme, which is psychedelic.
I also edited the brightness, as I made it brighter, in order to bring out the colours more.
The genre of the photograph is street photography, which connotes my theme denoted in many aspects as my theme is a mixture of street and psychedelic photography.
The aperture of the camera was f/5.6, and the rule of photography, is a framing composition, as the edited photograph seems to sit in between to brick walls, which metaphorically act as a frame.
The lighting was ambient, as I took the photograph in the day-time, therefore the lighting was natural.
Overall I really like this image, as it is really creative, and unique as well as of course connoting my theme denoted being street photography/psychedelia. I also like the fact of how the graffiti seen in the image really connotes the street elements of my theme.
The Robot King aka Space Spider
11th May 2016
Sunrise
This is a mid shot of what appears to be a vehicle, perhaps used for construction work. The meaning of this photo is to show the influence technology has had on us in this modern age we live in, as it shows how much we have advanced, as a human race. For example this image symbolises how we can now use technologically advanced vehicles to assist us in doing tasks. The edit shows elements of psychedelia as another meaning of this image is to show how the mind can sometimes perceive things differently.
To edit this image I changed the saturation, in the program Adobe Photoshop to give it a more futuristic/surreal set of colours, as this connotes my theme as I am of course doing a psychedelic theme. The change in saturation, has also given my edited image a two tone effect, as the base of the vehicle is blue, whereas the legs of it are red, which gives it a dangerous look in some aspects, as red usually symbolises danger I also edited the brightness, as the original image was a bit dark, so I therefore thought that by doing this, it would help bring the colours out of the image, and make them more radiant.
The genre of the photography is surrealism, as The photograph looks almost other-worldly in many aspects. The colours of the image I edited, also represent surrealism, as they are very bright and vivid, which also connotes my theme in some aspects, as my theme is psychedelia.
The aperture was f/5.6, and the lighting was high-key, as I took the picture inside a museum.
Overall I really like this Image, as it has a really unique look to it, as well as showing elements of cubism and surrealism.
Mystical Car 2098
11th May 2016
Sunrise
This is a medium close-up of a vintage looking car in a car park. The meaning of this photograph, is to show the past still has value, as although this car may be considered old by some, it is still used in the technological age that we live in today, which therefore connotes that the past has value.
To edit this photograph, I first changed the saturation to making the colours look really vivid, and almost out of this world, then I selected the car with the quick selection tool which is in Photoshop and selected the car, and duplicated the layer, and changed the opacity down in order to create a trippy looking effect, as this of course connotes my theme, as my theme is a psychedelic theme. This effect also represents double vision, which is accosted with a psychedelic state of mind. The genre of this photograph is street photography, as the image is of a car, which is very representative of the street in general. This image however, could also be classed as surrealism, as the colours used in the edit, look very surreal, which of course connotes my theme denoted, being psychedelia.
The aperture was f/5.6 and the lighting was ambient, as the shot was taken outdoors, so therefore it was natural light. Overall I think I did really well with editing this image, as it really does connote my overall theme with precision ,as well as accuracy, as I am of course basing my theme on street photography, as well as psychedelia.

Ancient Inheritance
11th May 2016
This is a close up shot of a nostalgic looking painting
. The meaning of this photograph is to represent different cultures in society, as for example, just by looking at this image you can see the cultural difference, comparing it to our society. Even the structures, being the pyramids show how much different the infrastructure of Egyptian society was compared to our modern day society.
To edit this photograph, I changed the saturation, as this give my image, a more vivid set of colours, and really adds to the nostalgic/surreal feel of the image. I ended up choosing the colour purple, as in my opinion, this colour looks very futuristic, and almost spacey.
The colours overall help to connote my theme, as they link to psychedelia, as purple like I described earlier, is a very majestic colour.
The genre of the photograph is street photography, as the image consists of a very vivid landscape. The composition rule of this photograph is framing, as the painting is in a museum, and is framed.
The aperture was f/5.6 and the lighting high key, as the shot was taken inside a museum, so therefore it was un-natural light. Overall I think I did really well with editing this image, as it really does connote my overall theme with precision ,as well as accuracy, as I am of course basing my theme on street photography, as well as psychedelia.
